Are You Ready For The New Year?
Hey, Friends. As you may or may not have heard, I’ve been a bit under the weather. Well, more like under a perfect storm. After a month in the hospital and a few more weeks recuperating at home, I am thrilled to welcome 2023 for any number of reasons. And I can’t wait for you to see what we have come down the pike at Al Roker Entertainment. Say it with me, “Watch A-R-E in 2023!!!”
Let’s collaborate. Got ideas? My crew is here to help. Drop us a line at marketing@alroker.com. And for all those that have sent me kind get-well wishes, thank you!

Al Roker
Abbott Elementary (ABC)
A show with heart, humor, and pathos, I always feel better after watching it. Plus, the writing and directing was spot on. Great to see broadcast TV have a hit with this show!
Tracie Brennan
Survivor (CBS)
Kickin' it old school but it has all I want; competition, treachery, and suspense. It also has men in their underwear and for the men, women in their underwear/bikinis - and it’s in a beautiful location - Fiji!
Lisa Tucker
Abbott Elementary (ABC)

Ricky Day
Andor (Disney+)
Wow! - Every episode was great: the writing, characters, casting and acting. You really got to experience the life of an imperial officer; a side of Star Wars untouched within the franchise.
Susan Jin Davis
Pachinko (Apple TV+)
This is basically a story that is about my Korean family, my mother in particular and is more than just entertainment for me. It was about learning about my her and my ancestors, and ultimately learning about my part of that journey that is intergenerational trauma.
Caren Franklin
Servant (Apple TV+)
This year we got the 3rd Season of this M. Night Shyamalan psychological thriller with an added dose of humor. Great cast and beautiful cinematography keep you engrossed in this series even if you are sometimes left with more questions than answers after each episode.
Asha Smith
Abbott Elementary (ABC)
The sophomore season is full of the same charm and heart that made me fall in love with the series!
Jon Burk
The Offer (Paramount+)
The story of the making of The Godfather is a fun watch. I live in LA and love programs and films about Hollywood and how the sausage is made. Matthew Goode was spot on as Robert Evans.
Denise Hurst Green
Queen Sugar (OWN)
Created by Ava DuVernay and based on the book by Natalie Baszile, speaks to the heart of the Black family dealing with land ownership in the South and the challenge of loving unconditionally. This show depicts the strength of our ancestors and how resilient we are as a people. I revel in the legacy of the truth we fight for every day.
Rick Angeli
Succession (HBO)
These people are truly awful to each other but that’s the fun. My favorite character has to be Cousin Greg. He reminds me of Gilligan from Gilligan's Island since Gilligan was actually a maniacal, manipulative control freak that kept them all on that dreadful island for his own evil gratification. In the end, Greg will take all the money - as it should be.
Briana Watson
Abbott Elementary (ABC)
This workplace comedy about teachers working in an underfunded Philly public school has been such a breath of fresh air. It continues to prove weekly that network TV is still a go-to in a world where streaming dominates.
